DivoccoAI’s ambition is to innovate point-of-care anesthesia by equipping health care professionals with state of the art automated technologies for operating rooms, isolated community centers and hostile conditions with limited resources.

Automate safe anesthesia

Unless you’ve interacted directly with the healthcare industry, your intuition for anesthesia is probably the Hollywood one: the long needle inserted directly into the neck, heart or subcutaneous tissue of the arm. The patient typically falls asleep within seconds. The patient remains perfectly stable, continues to breathe, and vital signs may or may not be measured…

To do so would seriously threaten the life of the patient!

Although this representation is frankly wrong, our vision is to automate anesthesia to approach Hollywood simplicity. We already have a large portfolio of technologies, created over the last decade, to achieve this goal.

Why automate anesthesia?

• Specialized medicine

Advanced medicine is only available in large urban centers, while 30 to 50% of the population lives in peripheral regions. Exporting technologies and software to remote areas makes advanced medicine accessible to the entire population, even in conditions of limited resources.

• Precision medicine

Anesthesia requires the constant adjustment of the doses of drugs administered according to the patient’s health status. On average, a human will make less than a dozen changes per hour, while a software program will make more than 200. Precision medicine allows for more patient-specific treatments, as opposed to a one-size-fits-all solution.

• Care errors and fatigue

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates the cost of human error at US $40 billion. These errors occur mainly in situations of fatigue, or in emergency situations. A robot or software that does not experience this fatigue will help avoid them, providing a tireless solution to human staff, who sometimes work without a break and in shortage of sleep.

• Workforce shortage

The shortage of personnel is felt in all sectors and the world pandemic has only amplified this shortage. The integration of robots and support software will help offload human staff by automating time-consuming tasks. With this synergy of workforces, more patients can be treated with the same number of employees.
